2019 Contest Rules

All entrants must check in prior to fishing, at registration table by the 2nd boat ramp near the dam campground.
All Colorado State fishing regulations apply, 4 trout bag limit, EXCEPT that only one (1) trout per participant will be eligible for weigh-in for prizes.
$10 entry any age. Fishing begins at 6a, fish from shore or boat.
**Only one fish may be weighed in per entrant. All fish must be weighed in before 3p to qualify for prizes, no exceptions.**
Top prize awarded for the longest trout (1st tiebreaker: length of tail at fork, 2nd: girth inches, 3rd: weight). Subsequent prizes awarded for heaviest fish, 2nd heaviest and so on. Extra prizes (if any) will be given away in a random drawing during awards ceremony.

The current weather forecast for May 12 at Miramonte Lake is:

  • Overnight Low 43°F, South southeast wind 6-14 MPH.
    Day: Partly cloudy, High 66°F, West southwest wind to 7 MPH.

Current conditions as of April 25 : Open water, water level at historic highs, both boat ramps are open. Watch for abundant deer and elk on road.

 

Recommendations & Tips

Trout fishing at Miramonte Lake is generally best at night, however fishing is also good in the daytime. Rainbow Trout in the 12-18+" range are abundant and activity picks up after ice-off with good to excellent conditions the norm through Memorial Weekend. Be ready for the possibility of a big fish anytime, but particularly early or late in the day. Below are some of the lures and baits that have been reported to work at Miramonte Lake:
Lures: Crayfish fly or lure patterns, Kastmasters, Panther Martins, Super Dupers, Rapalas, Tasmanian Devils
Baits: Crayfish, Worms, Salmon Eggs, Power Bait (best colors: Rainbow, Orange, Chartreuse, Lime Twist, Corn Yellow)

How To Get Here:Driving directions to Miramonte Reservoir from Norwood:
1- Go east on CO 145/Grand Ave for 1.7 miles. 2- Turn right onto Rd 44Zs(Dolores-Norwood Rd.), follow for 13.3 miles. 3- Slight right onto L40 Rd/​Miramonte Rd, follow to lake, about 3 miles.
